Twins
Yesterday, the boys drew these pictures to send to their aunt and uncle in Washington D.C. who are due with twin boys sometime in early July to August. Last week, in hopes of preventing the babies from being born too early, she went into the hospital ending up needing to stay until they're born.
Twin Fairyslipper orchids. Calypso bulbosa "Calypso, the goddess daughter of Atlas, was a beautiful sea nymph hidden in the woods." -Plants of Southern Interior British Columbia. These are some of the many flowers we saw on our walk.
When we returned home from our walk, C told us that his brother had called and his wife had given birth to two small and healthy little boys. Their labor went well and the babies were breathing by themselves (apparently making quite a ruckus!) which means that they can hopefully soon be placed together in a bed/isolette in the neonatal care unit of the hospital until they are ready to go home.
Apparently they had been in labor while the boys were drawing the pictures and we were out for a walk. Now we'll have to set to work drawing new pictures of their family, and I'll have to get knitting two little sweaters. This morning some of the first things I heard were, "Now we have two more cousins!" from E and "Today the twins are one day old and we forgot to call and sing Happy Birthday to them yesterday!" from R.

I love that they want to sing happy birthday! That's awesomne.

I love the babies drawn within the big belly. Both pictures have beautiful big bellies, actually. Save those drawings for sure! Congratulations to all.

Those orchids are stunning. But I want to know what a sea nymph was doing in the woods, out of her element!

Congratulations to you and your family!
What a special day. Your boys are wonderful artists.
Love the flowers.
I'm still knitting along on my rosebud. (Finals this week so knitting is not happening.)

I'm glad to hear the twins are doing well! I hope that the original pictures are included when you send the new family drawings - that the boys were drawing them while the twins were being born was pretty cool. :)

love the drawings! I realized I never filled you in with 'average sizes' for twins and twin sweaters... because I would have had to go look it up online or some such thing, all those numbers have completely fallen out of my head now that I'm into toddlerhood with mine.
I'm so glad to hear that the boys are healthy! I hope all those boy cousins have many happy memories together. :o)
