How to prevent myself from getting a tattoo.
In the '70's my mom went through a phase of sewing appliques onto my jumpers and dresses, you know, like strawberries, and apples with grinning worms climbing out of them? Last fall I sewed the butterfly applique on the back of the orange cami-tank. This summer I did the brown and green ones with more butterflies and a sunflower.
Sorry, my 6 year old stylist/photographer didn't mention that my tag was sticking up. Now y'all know that I still shop at The Buckle, even at the age of 36. Actually, these tanks are the only thing in the store big enough for me to fit into, and they are thick 95% cotton/5% spandex, made in Canada, and come in lots of shades other than cotton-candy pink.
This weekend, we're off to Koots Roots in Ymir, B.C. again where it's difficult to not come home with the idea that you need a tattoo on your shoulder or lower back. Between yesterday and today's posts, hopefully I've got enough festival-wear now to prevent that. No offense. I think most tattoos are beautiful...on other people.

You stenciling yesterday had me thinking of things I could do with patches. And then I see today's post! I love it!
I also went through your list of favorite blogs and added about 95% of them to my list. If you made up a list of cool internet places to find cute sewing patterns, fabrics, other craft choices or something like that I bet that'd be a hit too. Just sayin'....
:o)

Cute tops. Canadian, eh?
It's kind of funny, you avoiding a tattoo, while I'm jonesing for one.

so very cute. your stenciling from yesterday has gotten me thinking of doing a little experimenting myself.
im' with you on the tattoo. it's the permanence that i'm uncomfortable with. i'm way too fickle. i once got a henna tattoo on my arm and although i loved it when i had it done, i was sick of it after 3 days and scrubbed it off.

Once my husband told me that those lower back tattoos were commonly referred to as "tramp stamps" - I found that I no longer wanted one as much as I had thought! :)
Have fun festivalling...

I used to write a newspaper column and the subject once was about tattoos. I was bemoaning the fact that getting a tattoo was apparently becoming a rite of passage. So, I suggested that I get my favorite old band "Led Zeppelin" tattooed on my butt. Then I pondered the notion that when I turned 80, the tattoo would have faded and I'd have only a "L" and "e" and the "Zeppelin" part would have deflated around my ankles. The worried result is that I've never gotten a tattoo.

when my kids turn 18 we give them a tattoo for their birthday. if they want one. i just got my oldest daughter hers. they hurt but its like childbirth. you have pain but then you have something great after. it can be worth it. just my opinion. thats all.

I had to laugh at the German word for tramp-stamps, Arschgeweih, which translates to "ass antlers".
I have always wanted a tattoo, but I figured I'd abstain since I never wanted to hear anyone say, "Gramma, show us your tattoo!" Besides, anything I get now will be sad and wilted in 20 years...
I LOVE the camis, though!
