Addendum below!

Regia Crazy Color #5437.  Knit toe up, magic loop, on #1 Addi Turbos.  Heels and toes knit with matching solid sock yarn, 2 strands held together.  3x1 ribbing.  Last 2 rows knit with #6 needles.  Cast off EXTREMELY LOOSELY with the suspended bind off.

Amur maple leaves and Highbush cranberry bushes at the nursery where I used to work.  The Mountain ash that we planted in our yard for R after he was born.  This is the first year it has produced berries.

Added:  the pattern that I use almost exclusively for sock knitting is Wendy's Toe Up Sock Pattern, altering only the total number of stitches around.  Typically, for a pair of women's socks knit from most 4-ply yarn such as Regia or Meilenweit I'll wrap and turn until 8 stitches on each side are wrapped.  For a finer sock yarn like Opal or Lorna's Laces knit on #1 dpns, or for a men's pair of socks, with more total stitches I might wrap 9 on each side.  With sport weight yarn, usually only 7 stitches.  Oh, and 50% of the stitches are used for the heel, give or take a stitch or two if there's patterning to work around.  Thanks for asking.  Anything else?

... and I messed with the pictures in this post, changing them around a little.  It was bugging me.

Gorgeous foliage and cute socks!

And what perfect Socktoberfest socks they are!

I am continually amazed at how well all your pictures go together. If I didn't know better, I'd think that you took the pictures of the leaves, hand-dyed the yarn and then knit the socks. Truly amazing.

beautiful color!

WOW!!!! i just want to blow up the picture collage and frame it. amazing!!!!!

I am buying that yarn immediately! You were so thorough in your description, I hate to ask a question, but what method do you use for the toes and heels? I'm specifically wondering if you do a short row heel as you knit, or ala Elizabeth Zimmerman's afterthought heel method? And what percentage of stitches do you use for the heel? 50%? And your toe doesn't look like a short-row or a wedge toe. Sorry, inquiring minds want to know! :o)

Thanks! Your socks are very inspiring!

Outstanding!!! I love this post and I love your socks.

Wow! I love those socks and especially how you photographed them. Yay, autumn! Congrats.

I miss autumn, thanks for giving me back a lil taste of it! Great socks!

Awesome socks, as always. I noticed you posted your bind-off method. ;) Thanks again. yrs, Jenny

great autumn socks!

The socks could easily get lost in the foliage of the Mountain Ash or the leaves on the ground. Thanks for the link to the toe-up socks. I love to work on dpns, but have been contemplating toe-up socks for some time. You have given me the push I needed, Siri!

I just have to say that I really REALLY like your photos. I like how you always color-theme them in "matched sets". It's really enjoyable to look at.

I love it when you match your socks to the beautiful trees around you. It gives a real sense of place.

Oh my goodness, those socks match the fallen leaves just perfectly! They're gorgeous! (as are all of your pictures)

Another beautiful pair, Siri! I love the way you arrange and display them too. Lovely work. Perfect colors for autumn and Socktoberfest! :)

What glorious photos and socks!

When I saw the socks and the lovely photos I thought, how does she do it? Such amazing socks and photos week after week?

Well, you answered my sock questions. Thank you, Sock Guru!

Beautiful socks! They're _perfect_ for this season. I love them :)

Thanks for the link! I think I've visited this post about 30 times since yesterday, it's so pretty!!!

Beautiful socks! Love the fall colours :0)

Hi Siri,
I love your socks and the fall color! I wanted tell you that I told my daughter about the bookmarks made by your friend. Yesterday I was out running errands and when I got home the kids gave me a gift of two of these bookmarks. They are so pretty! Chloe made them with clear packing tape. Thanks for the idea. I'll be posting them on my unschooling blog: www.knitonequilttoo.typepad.com/live_love_laugh_learn.

HI! i was wondering if, since you are like a huge sock knitter, you knew if 1 ball of Plymoth Sockotta could make a pair of size 11 mens socks :D i got this ball of yarn and i was thinking i want some socks. lol i couldnt afford 2 balls for safety. and i dont get how to make the toe up work! thanks for any help

As one poster said, you must have photographed the leaves, dyed the yarn to match, and knitted the socks. Incredible color matching!

Absolutely breath-taking. I love how you always display your knitted things in a natural setting. Your backgrounds always make your knitting even more beautiful.
