One more illustration from this book. Someone recently left a comment there with a link to more scanned pictures of his artwork here, most with winter themes.

So cool. My mother was in school for education when I was just a little girl, and all the professors loved to give me books. They all featured that distinctive style of art. Also, do you remember Ezra Jack Keats? You should make Keats Paper with your boys. It was my absolute favorite art project when I was a kid.
absolutely gorgeous. I did a google search on him, as I'd love to use his art as inspiration for my daughter's upcoming room makeover, and he has his own website:
Thanks a lot for the links ! I traveled in my mind with all these beautiful illustrations. For sure, I've seen some of those books in French in my francophone part of country(Québec, Canada) in the past years, having 6 children and I've worked many years in an elementary school library .I wonder if...maybe there's something illustrated by this artist just right here, in my home ? Maybe !

Very lovely illustrations indeed. You asked if anyone could translate the title - I live in Denmark and speak fluent Danish. As I´m sure you know, Swedish, Norwedian and Danish are very close to eachother. I would translate the title Sången om äppelträdet to mean "The song about the apple tree" rather than "Singing in the apple tree". My Danish husband agrees with that translation as well, hope it is helpful to you. You are also welcome to mail me the rest of the text if you wish.:)
What a lovely picture - somehow all seasons are there in the winter tree. I see why you bought the book!
