Grey Greenery
After an Easter weekend, sunny and in the upper 60's/lower 70's, it's back to the greys, with just a hint of green. Sunday night we were able to have dinner outdoors in t-shirts. This morning it tried to snow on us and the snow level has creeped back down the mountainsides. That hill, second pic from the bottom, when it starts to green up, that's my personal gauge. It's what I use to determine when spring has officially begun. At least the grass is green there and in town, even if we're lagging behind here at our place and at this nearby pond. At least it's not still frozen and the birds are returning.
The Greenery Hat served as an Easter bonnet during a frosty egg hunt early Sunday morning. It's Patons Classic Wool, Dark Grey Mix, about half of a ball, knit on #8 (maybe #7?) dpns. I'd forgotten how enjoyable cables can be, especially in such a small project. The hat was a little tight at first, wanting to ride up into an point, making me look like an egghead. With wear, it's stretching into a better fit. The yarn isn't itchy at all, very reasonably priced, and the pattern is well designed and written and is a quick, interesting knit. This has quickly become a favorite hat and goes much better with my outerwear than this Cross Hat-ch hat which is looking a bit worse for the wear, anyways. Uh, and this is about as brushed as my hair gets most days (read: not at all) so thank goodness for hats.

It looks fantastic! I may make this hat after the Fake Isle hat. I really like it in the grey/blue you chose. I'm with you on the hair brushing--ponytails hid my mess, since it is curly.

Nice hat - I think it's hard to get the right balance with cables on a hat to prevent that riding up/egghead effect.

This is really nice - I've been wanting to knit this hat myself, and you're motivating me! :0)

I love the pattern and the colour of that hat!
And yes, it still is hat weather. For us, tomorrow promises snow flurries. This is what we get for the very warm beginning to winter, remember?

Our weather's been up and down, too. I never know what to wear!
That hat is wonderful with its big fat woolly cables.

Love the hat! Cables are still somewhat of a mystery to me, and I really love how they mesh together at the top.
