May came in like a lamb
Even after a bike ride and picnic lunch at the creek nearby, it was such a beautiful day yesterday that I insisted on the boys staying outside to play and ride bikes. The day prior to that, we had thrifted a stack of ten of the Boxcar Children series and we've hardly heard a peep from R since. After a little while longer outside, R came to the door with a hand full of shooting stars, presented them to me, and asked, "Now can I read?" (Insert melting heart here.) "Yes, but outside somewhere in the fresh air. How about in the hammock?" Another little while later, this is how I found him, reading astride his bike, in the middle of the trail between the house and shop:
More itty-bitty flowers. The dish measures a mere 4 inches lengthwise:

Gosh - I can almost feel all the fresh air. What a great day for the boys. I hope they appreciate every teeny thing you do for them. I just told my sister that you're my 2nd favorite home schooling Mom (She's my first, of course). That leaf-shaped dish looks like it has a good story behind it.

Wow beautiful flowers. Looks like Dodecatheon is in the mix - I have tried to grow these lots and lots of times and failed. Great landscape too.

A boy after my own heart! My daughter started to really read this past year, but yesterday was the first time (that I know of) that she actually picked up a book ON HER OWN and read FOR PLEASURE. She actually came downstairs and told me about it, she was so proud (and so was her mama :)!
Love your blog. Always inspired & inspiring!

I remember being 'sent' outside to read. We had an old swingset with seats too small for me; that's where I used to read. Cute pic of you son. Love the flowers, too.

My son loved that series. That R knows how to get what he wants and how to woo a woman already - a dangerous and endearing trait!

That must be SOME book. I love all the "fresh air" shots. You live in a really lovely part of the country.

I'm mostly a lurker but I had to pop in- that book reading picture just about broke my heart with its cuteness! (I was dubbed a *read-head* by my outdoorsy friend as a kid so I can relate.)
