Focus
On the flowers?
Or, on the fresh, new snow?
Fortunately, the rain and cold didn't come until Sunday night, AFTER returning home and unpacking from camping. That doesn't mean I didn't end up setting up the tent in the middle of the night half asleep by lantern and flashlight because it was too cold (for me, at least) to sleep in a hammock hung from the trees, even with socks, hat, long underwear, and a couple of layers.
The oldtimers say that 4th of July, give or take, is when the last of the snow on the mountain tops visible from the valley melts off. You can, and apparently they used to, place bets on it. I was just thinking a few days ago that it would be a little bit early this year, but it ought to prove pretty true again. It's already warming up.

Your photographs reminded me of my belief that there is nothing on earth more beautiful than a mountain meadow in the summertime.

I love these pics. And those mountains are totally making me want to move to Montana. (We could use some snow covered mountains right about now- it's 90 sweaty degrees here- YUCK!) Any places for sale around your parts? (Only half kidding;)

So pretty. A few years ago in June, DH and I camped our way to his parents' place in Hamilton, and we'd planned to stay one night at Georgetown lake. We didn't make it and stopped in central Idaho instead, and that night Georgetown Lake got 13 inches of snow! I was freezing in Idaho, but SO glad we didn't make it all the way to the lake that night.

You just took my breath away with those two photos - simply beautiful.
I remember camping just outside Aviemore in Scotland on my way north for a field trip once. After dark the temperature plummeted well below freezing - I was fine in my 4-seasons down mountaineering sleeping bag, but the girl sharing my tent put on every single item of clothing she had with her, and still couldn't sleep for the cold.

Breath taking pictures. The lighting is amazing. I would love to come and live out there...if only it were possible. But it's not so I'm stuck in the city. But man....a girl can dream about it after seeing pics like those!!!

Beautiful! Where I grew up in Central Oregon, we could not reach the high lakes of the Cascades until after July 1 usually. And here, on the rainy coast, July 4th means the first day of summer, too, but in a different way!

I think the focus on the flowers might possibly be my favorite picture yet. It's always such a pleasure to visit your blog. I never know what treasure awaits. I hope you're having a great time.

Stunning! Reminds me of our train trip out west a few years back. I was taking a nap and when I woke up. . . mountains! Do they ever become "old hat" or do they amaze you over and again?

I am in Montana right now. My photos don't hold a candle to yours. Montana is certainly a special spot. It's fun to see the snow in the distance and I look forward to our drive West toward them today.

Both, focus on the snow and the flowers. In a side-by-side frame.
Absolutely gorgeous shots. :)
