Purple & Orange
Trekking #81 socks for a friend's birthday, yesterday. Toe up, Addi Turbo #2 circular, Magic Loop. Heels and toes reinforced with a second strand of Heritage Heirloom 4 ply sock yarn. 3 x 1 rib over 56 stitches.
The sunflowers and black-eyed susans are from a friend from her garden. The asters we picked up the road in the mountains yesterday.
The skein? The world's ugliest yarn, dyed by yours truly, in honor of Project Spectrum. C likes it so I guess he gets a pair of socks knit from it. Don't you think I really could use a week at Yarn School with Adrian to learn a little more about dyeing? Maybe next year. Or it might be better for me to stick with natural dyes?

Love the purple! Goes great with the pictures you took. I took a class on dying fabric, really enjoyed it but ended up with fabric that felt like sand paper. I would love to learn how to dye yarn. Anyway, I think it looks great.

As I was waiting for the ugliest skein in the world photo to load (it took three times as long as the others), I wondered what on earth it was going to look like. But I like it! I reckon it will knit up beautifully and can't wait to see the socks.

I like your yarn but I know what you mean by the dye challenge it never looks like we think it should.

Those socks are so beautiful. I'm now realizing that I much prefer the look of socks that are knit toe-up. I need to muster the nerve to try it one of these days...
I don't think your died skein is ugly at all! Those colors are very beautiful together! Keep it up...

I love that skein of yarn! Very fall-ish and yet not too dark at the same time. Great job in my opinion.

The trekking socks are so pretty and I think your hand dyed yarn is going to surprise you and give you something to smile about when you knit it :-)

Yarn school looks like sooo much fun. It is good to learn all techniques - whatever you learn will probably add to and enhance what you know about natural dying. Getting away along for a few days . . . what a wonderful luxury when you have small children.

I agree with the others....I rather like that skein of yarn. The colors are unusual but go together beautifully. Can't wait to see it knit up.
