Joining the ranks
Pink toes, new snow, and new PJs (the best ever flannel fabric from JoAnn's fabric) Joining the ranks.
Pink cheeks.
Pink pjs, thanks to Old Gravy. The new squirrelly pjs were drafted from this purchased pair, only I traded the ties for elastic (When you gotta go, you gotta go, if you know what I mean.) and skipped the cute button. There were some nasty, cussing moments while making these, as in, cutting one piece with the squirrels and trees upside down, then cutting two pieces the same rather than mirror imaged. (No wonder the only time I remember my mom coming anywhere close to swearing was while she was sewing!) So sad I'd messed up this great fabric, teh only thing to do was to walk away for awhile. Coming back with a new perspective, the fix presented itself. The remainders of fabric and miscut pieces could be patched back together and a new piece cut from that. Worked like a charm, and even fixed the upside down piece. So, there's an extra seam up one of the back pieces. Who cares? They're PJ's, for pete's sake.
Did some virtual window shopping over at SuperBuzzy and Reprodepot the other day, and then realized I'm still OK with the $2 a yard sales on the knock off stuff that comes through JoAnn's every now and again.
This morning, before 9 am, rituals: hot cocoa in moose mugs after playing in the snow (liquid sugar straight to the brain) and pre-Thanksgiving preparations (the tearing up of bread for stuffing).

OMG, where did the moose mugs come from? They're hilarious, and I collect moose for myself, and my friends, who have a whole houseful. They'd LOVE those for Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving! Very cute pjs and I love the hot chocolate photos...
My son still proudly wears his pjs I made him last Christmas---the ones with airplanes upside down on one leg! I think I'm the only one that notices. I'm always so nervous when I'm cutting fabric now---I've made so many mistakes in the cutting!
My walls have heard many rants due to not only my sewing mistakes, but my knitting mistakes, too!
Your post just emphasizes my need to start my kid's Christmas pjs...

I just love your blog. My current life is so much different, but I grew up in the mountains, and I just get such a warm feeling every time I come here and see what you are making or doing. Thanks so much, and Happy Thanksgiving.

omg. I just got back from thanksgiving with the family, where I attempted to make a nightgown for my niece from the VERY SAME fabric found at JoAnns and made THE SAME MISTAKE regarding direction! Only I had to go back and get more fabric but thankfully it was half off. Yeesh! Was it necessary to make that fabric directional?? (fabric's fault, not mine.)A very embarrassing mistake to make in front of the woman who taught me to sew!
