Spiderweb Capelet
Fast forward from fine weight lace to bulky lace, and from Halloween into Winter.
Pattern: Spiderweb Capelet, from Stitch 'n' Bitch Nation. Yarn: Crystal Palace Merino Frappe, the called for yarn, in Charcoal. A quick, frivolous knit on awkwardly monstrous needles, size 15. Be forewarned there is a GLARING error in the book, correction here. Glad to have come across that before beginning on this. I imagine it's caused a fair amount of frustration for others. Modification: I knit, I think, two extra repeats of the lace pattern before the decreasing at the top. There was plenty of yarn to do so in the 2 balls. Like all lace, this benefit from a good blocking.
Today was the one fine day recently with a combination of both enough time and great light for taking pics and C had the camera with him for work all day. Oh well. Not the best pics, but the most I could do in the dying afternoon light.
Knit mostly in the car, to and from Seattle, in October, finishing in time to wear for Halloween with spiders attached, like this:
However, the spiders I chose to use were so heavy they weighed the capelet down and pulled it all out of place most of the evening... not that you could see it anyways, out trick or treating in the pitch dark. Maybe now it could be worn as part of a Winter queen? fairy? goddess? costume?

So pretty. I always enjoy seeing your knits, though honestly I would come by for your photographs of everything.

It's lovely!
OK, the spiders kinda creep me out, but I can see some snowflakes turning it into a Winter Queen outfit.

So cute! I just love the pompoms---I think I'm a sucker for them(memories of childhood, I guess)!

I was not at all attracted to this project in the book, but you have opened my eyes to how beautiful it can be! I love your ideas for a winter queen, fairy, goddess costume...how beautiful will that be! I think i just may make this now!

It's so beautiful...
I never dare to knit in the car, I have visions of me being pierced by a needle. Silly, no?
