Greetings of the Season
Wish I could get around the blogs and personally leave my wishes for a peaceful and relaxing holiday season. Since that's impossible, please accept these ones here.
The needlepoint above is the only one I've ever done. The pattern was from a magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, I believe, from the late 80's or early 90's, I'd guess. I think I stitched this while back home over holiday break one year during college. I remember being irked, even back then, that I couldn't find 100% linen needlepoint cloth in the stores. Already a linen snob back then, when it was much more difficult to find than even now.
Since reclaiming this from a storage box back at my parents' house a few years ago, it's been both duct taped and tacked to the wall for the holidays. It would be nicer to have it framed before the holidays next year, and then maybe make a similar piece to frame and hang alongside it, but what? A redwork embroidery? a paper cutting? a stranded knit sampler? a patchwork? an applique similar to this but in wool felt? a mix of several of these?
Enough rambling. Happy Winter and whatever else you may be celebrating about today.

Not bad for your only needlework! I love red and white embroidery. Happy Holidays.

Merry Christmas to you! Your needlework piece definitely needs framing - it is beautiful!
I loved seeing the reindeer antlers :)

This has to be one of the most beautiful cross-stitch designs I've seen. The only ones that I have any interest in are these single-color (usually red) pieces on linen and "subversive"cross stitch - who can resist a little fun? Have a great holiday!

i vote for the paper cutting to hang along side of the beautiful needlepoint.
