Seeing the trees for the forest
Here it is again, since Donna has been so persistent, kindly asking not once, but twice, for another shot this year of the ever expanding forest corner. It's a dark corner in which to try and get decent pics, even with the strings of lights and built-in overhead cabinet lights.
Very little goes into arranging this. The boys unpacked most of them this year, stuffing them all on the bottom two shelves, followed by a few more minutes on my part to spread them out a little. You can't really go wrong. Conveniently, there is a power strip in the corner of the lowest shelf to plug the lights into, with just enough play in the shelves to allow cords to be strung up the side of the cabinet to the next shelves up.
New trees this year are from a my first ever trip to a Daiso, in Bellingham last August: the plastic 'stepped" ones, the tiny wooden lollipop looking ones, and the wooden bare branched one which is actually part of a tiny wooden game where you balance little wooden red triangles in the crooks of the branches.
Surely there will be a few new Sculpey ones made by the boys over the next week or so. Likely next year some of this year's stacked fabric trees will be transplanted from the mantle shelf "nursery grounds" into the forest.

I love the trees! They make me homesick for the forest that used to be in my back yard (but is now a subdivision. Grf)

I haven't seen your display before and I am in awe! It is SO beautiful----exactly my kind of holiday display: trees! Just today, while driving my kids to school, I couldn't keep my eyes off all of the trees with varying displays of snow... Love that.
I'm also jealous that you were able to go to Daiso! I've been reading more about that place (or is it one like it?) for obtaining Bento supplies (my newest passion). Maybe it calls for a road trip...
