E's new rollneck sweater
Whoops. I went to go post this and found I'd accidentally posted it yesterday morning! Glad it was in a presentable state and not just a nonsensical draft. Well. So, if you haven't seen it, or even if you have, here it is again, only moved up to now since there's no time for a new post today.
Pattern: Yankee Knitter Roll Raglan Knitting Pattern for Children and Adults modified to be knit in the round up until the armpits, then seamed up the raglan edges. Size 8, even though E is only 5 years old, for allow for growing room. He also fits the size 6 version I'd made for R several years ago right now, but will have grown out of it by next winter. The body and sleeves were lengthened, winging it as I went. The collar was knit somewhere between the shorter and turtleneck versions.
Yarn: Patons Classic Merino. Bright Red and Chestnut Brown. Chosen because it's not itchy, is readily available locally, doesn't pill nearly so much as Cascade 220 or Plymouth Galway, good yardage, and is priced very low. How can you argue with that?
Brown was used for the body so as not to show spills easily, but I see here that there are already cracker crumbs clinging to the front of the sweater. Oh well. I didn't bother to block it, either. He's been wearing it daily for nearly two weeks now. Need to embroider a twill tape tag to sew into the back so he knows which way is the right way to wear it.
Bonus picture of E at age 1 in the first one of these sweaters I made for him of Cascade 220. 4 years gone by and photo shoots with him are no easier now than they were back then. And he still asks us to pick him up like he did back then, too.
The hat was based rather vaguely on both Kat Coyle's Johnny Cap and a hat I bought at a yard sale several years ago. A good basic that I've actually been wearing more than E has. There will be more of these in other solid colors in the future.

I just ordered this pattern. Silly me, I thought it was knit from the top down. I hate seaming, so I guess I will have to knit the bottom in the round, too. Your photos give me some good ideas. Thanks.

Gorgeous - love the colours, love the pattern. I am definitely going to go pick up the pattern although I don't think I have a little munchkin quite as cute as the one modelling for you!

Great sweater! Those colours looks great on him, and the matching hat make him even cuter :)

Really nice and wearable, everyday. I so love the pictures of when they were wee and now. Makes a Mamas heart pitter-patter.
