Total Eclipse of the Moon TONIGHT

The view from our fire pit a couple of days ago.
6:43 p.m. through 10:09 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, peaking at 8:01 throuh 8:51 p.m. Not a cloud in the sky here today and crossing our fingers it'll stay that way.
And, from here:
"So why does the eclipsed Moon glow deep orange or red, rather than being blacked out?
The answer is amazing.
The red light you'll see on the Moon comes from all the sunrises and sunsets that are occurring around Earth at the time."

I just can't get over how beautiful it is where you live. It's breathtaking!!!

I'll be watching too. Right now we have clear skies, only hope it stays that way.

We have clouds and I'm SOOOO sad! Will you get a shot for me please?

Wow. Thanks for reminding me. I don't pay attention because it's cloudy here more often than not, or rainy. I got my 86-year-old mother out of bed to see her first lunar eclipse ever! and showed her the rings of Saturn through my telescope. Thank you so much for mentioning this.

Thanks for posting this... I hadn't known about it before I read your blog yesterday. We watched for hours, too. It was pretty magical!

We'd been preparing for this for a while, then we totally missed it! I was pretty upset about it.

I hope you enjoyed the eclipse as much as we did. We live in Portland area and were expecting not to be able to see it due to cloud cover. But it was clear last night!

Thanks so much writing about this - in my bubble, I didn't even know this was going to happen! My daughter and I watched out the window - not as beautiful as your mountain scene here in the suburbs of Chicago, but such a wonder nonetheless.
There was a picture of it on the front page of the paper this morning, and she cut it out and shared it with her third grade class. She felt so proud!
Thank you!
