Irish by association
When you marry into both the Brennan and Neill clans, eventually you learn to play along. Until now I've been the only one in the family without an "Irish", "Ireland" or "Dublin" emblazoned green shirt. Not wanting to be left out again, this year I made my own take-off, shoddily done with a butcher paper stencil and an old t-shirt. (Must try real fabric paint next time. Mixing fabric medium with acrylic paint only makes the paint too runny, causing it to seep under the edges of the stencil)
Plenty of shenanigans going on throughout the day: green milk, green pancakes, pennies gold left behind on the front walk by leprechauns in the middle of the night, tuning into Irish music all day on XM Channel 76, and dinner planned for tonight with with family and friends: the classic corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and home backed soda bread, followed by root beer and Guinness floats with homemade shamrock cookies. Enough green food coloring today to turn us green from the inside out!
Personal twists on the holiday involve not only the wearing of the green, green socks (not new) that is, but also getting our hands into the dirt and working with something green. Today it was planting wheatgrass seed and transplanting the baby offshoots of an overgrown houseplant.
Happy St. Patricks Day to all, whether Irish, Irish-ish, or not at all!

Aren't we all Irish or Irish-ish on St. Patrick's Day?
Have you thought about cleaning up the edge of the stenciling with a bit of fabric paint applied from a fine point fabric paint bottle? Maybe using a gold color? The shirt is very cute, and it would be nice to be able to just clean up the edges.

That shirt is perfect. I can think of several "-ish"'es I married into, they would make very funny shirts. ; ) xo
