Happy Mother's Day. : )
Yes, spring is still yet to come, as is attested to by these teensy pussy willows I came across out by the pond. Have you ever seen such small ones!
I keep coming back to the last lines of the poem Amanda quoted here last week, how appropriate they are, how they express exactly what I've been feeling as I try not to dwell on the winter still at hand and the spring I wish had been here ago:
"and the soft rain -
imagine! imagine!
the long and wondrous journeys
still to be ours."

Thank you for that poem - I missed it earlier. It is very refreshing and promising. I can 'hear' your discouragement about the lateness of spring this year. But it will arrive and soon you'll be 'oohhing' and 'aaahing' us and yourself with those wonderful photos and experiences that you've shared before. Only new ones this time. :)

I understand your dismay at the lateness of spring...we had snow three days ago with snowflakes the size of golfballs. I usually thrive on the unpredictability of our weather, the days that the temperature can vary by fifty to sixty degrees F, but this year has been hard. It is spring, and I want it to show. Now.

I am astounded that you are just now getting pussy willows. Here in Boston, I gathered some off of a tree limb that was felled in a wind storm two months ago.
