Giving thanks
The deer usually help themselves to our jack-o-lanterns within a couple of days of Halloween, even right by the front door. This year, the boys brought them to their rooms for a night, putting a glow sticks in each for a night light. A couple of days later, they put them back out in the grass, away from the house, where we could watch from the window.
I guess you could say it's a round about way of giving thanks for their "brother" who has nourished us in the past few days and has filled our freezer for the coming months.
As for C's pumpkin, that he opted not to carve but to bake in the oven instead, it has provided us with a pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream, a round of pumpkin smoothies, and two loaves of pumpkin spice bread. Not to mention the big bowl full of tamari roasted seeds from all the pumpkins, nor the few sprouting in a cup, just for fun.
By the way, I haven't meant to fall off the edge of the blog world, here, but this week has just been a strange mix of busy and exhausting, what with the time change and the onset of snow, cold, and grey winter skies. Trying to take any decent pictures has been trying. Some socks to share but will have to retake the pictures when the light is better.

What a beautiful picture! A wonderful way to start my morning. Thank you.

That is so cute! My mom sent me pictures from Alaska of MOOSE eating her pumpkin. I guess I had never realized what a tasty treat they must be for woodland creatures! Very considerate of them to wait until after Halloween ;)

You're pictures are lovely! We too feed our pumpkins to the deer down here in balmy Virginia. We still have one that we haven't carved into...it's beginning to look like ice cream to me.

Enjoy some time off. We'll be here when you're back. That picture of the deer eating the jack-o-lantern is wonderful.

Miss Siri, your blog and the things you do, especially with colors and nature, just make me so happy. And make me miss Montana so much. I'm SO glad you liked the clogs -- I will enjoy thinking of you wearing them. I ordered a special pair for myself and when they came in they STILL DIDN'T FIT. The universe is making me paint my own clogs. I can tell. xoxox
